The Delta State Government has approved the award of the contract for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road from the Warri–Port Harcourt Expressway at ECN Junction to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction, including a spur to Otor-Udu.
The approval was granted during the 14th Meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board (STB) for the year 2026, held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Office of the Deputy Governor, Government House, Asaba.
The project, which will be executed by the Ministry of Works (Highways and Urban Roads), is valued at ₦22.69 billion and covers parts of Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas.
Speaking shortly after the meeting, the Honourable Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Hon. Comr. Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben Esq., described the approval as another major milestone in the Delta State Government’s commitment to providing quality road infrastructure across the state.
According to the Commissioner, the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road will improve connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, boost commercial activities, and enhance socio-economic development within the benefiting communities.
He noted that the project reflects the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, through the MORE Agenda, to delivering durable infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of Deltans.
Residents and road users are expected to benefit significantly from the project upon completion, as it will improve transportation, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth in the area.
