The Executive Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr Lucky Avweromre, has received an Award of Leadership Excellence for his contributions to grassroots development and community engagement.
The award was presented to Avweromre on Saturday, August 8, 2026, by the Value Rebirth and Empowerment Initiative (VREI) during the 9th Graduation Ceremony of its Leadership School in Edjeba, Warri.
The organisation said the recognition was based on the chairman’s leadership, infrastructural projects and efforts to improve the welfare of residents in Ughelli South.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of VREI, Pst. (Amb.) Edewor Egedegbe, commended Avweromre for what he described as people-oriented leadership.
Egedegbe said the chairman’s efforts had contributed to grassroots development, particularly through the transformation of the council secretariat and execution of projects across communities in the local government area.
He, however, urged the council chairman to give greater attention to human capital development as part of his administration’s priorities.
The ceremony attracted dignitaries, academics, business leaders and other stakeholders from across Delta State.
Receiving the award on behalf of Avweromre, Hon. Apst. Emmanuel Tejiri Ejarogan thanked VREI for recognising the chairman’s efforts.
Ejarogan described the award as an encouragement and a reminder of the need for the council administration to do more for the people of Ughelli South.
He said the recognition would further motivate Avweromre and his team to intensify their efforts towards improving the lives of residents and contributing to the development of Delta State.
