Oborevwori unveils ‘MORE Plus’, urges grassroots mobilisation

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured residents that his administration will continue to execute projects and deliver public services despite preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He gave the assurance on Thursday in Asaba during the inauguration of the state All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, where he unveiled “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.

Oborevwori said the government would remain focused on its responsibilities while party members mobilised support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the elections.

He urged campaign council members to take the party’s message to communities, wards and polling units, stressing that electoral victory required direct engagement with voters rather than reliance on rallies alone.

The governor said the APC should campaign on its record in government and explain its policies and achievements to residents.

“Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly,” he said.

He said his administration would continue to pursue its M.O.R.E Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.

The governor also urged campaign coordinators at the local government and ward levels to work with party structures and support groups to reach voters across the state.

He described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to work with unity, discipline and dedication.

Oborevwori further appealed to politicians and their supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns, avoid hate speech and ensure that political differences did not threaten the peace of the state.

The Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, urged party members to publicise the policies and achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, including its measures on education funding, local government autonomy, security, electricity and infrastructure.

Onyeme said the party should strengthen its grassroots mobilisation and work towards delivering at least two million votes for the APC in Delta State.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, describing them as difficult decisions intended to address underlying economic problems.

Keyamo urged APC members to explain the policies to voters while making the case for the party’s candidates.

In his welcome address, the Delta APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the inauguration demonstrated the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

He urged members of the council to work together, mobilise voters peacefully and communicate the achievements of APC-led governments.

Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking on behalf of Delta North Senatorial District, said the large turnout at the event showed that the party was ready for the elections.

He, however, cautioned that rallies alone would not secure victory, urging party leaders and candidates to engage voters directly in their communities.

Speaking for Delta Central, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor pledged support for the re-election of Tinubu and Oborevwori, while former Secretary to the State Government, Ovuozourie Macaulay, said the administration’s projects would feature prominently in the party’s campaign.

Former APC National Woman Leader and Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank, Stella Okotete, called on women to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of at least 75 per cent of the votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

The Director-General of the campaign council, Senator James Ebiowou Manager, pledged to work with party leaders and members to secure victory, describing the assignment as one requiring collective effort and sustained mobilisation.

The campaign council is chaired by Oborevwori, with Manager as Director-General and the Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chiedu Ebie, as Deputy Director-General.
