Film Practitioners Hail Oborevwori for Boosting Creative Industry

Movie practitioners and stakeholders in the Delta State film industry have congratulated Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori on the third anniversary of his administration, praising his leadership and commitment to the development of the state.

The group, led by renowned actor, movie producer and Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Dave Onome Ogbeni, described Governor Oborevwori’s three years in office as a period of visible progress, innovation, and transformation under the M.O.R.E Agenda.

In a statement released to journalists on Thursday to mark the governor’s third anniversary in office, the entertainment stakeholders commended the administration for its impact on security, infrastructure, youth development, arts, culture, and the creative economy.

The statement, which was endorsed by different guilds within the Delta State movie industry, noted that the governor’s policies have created a more favourable environment for filmmakers and other creative professionals in the state.

According to Amb. Dave Onome Ogbeni, film production in Delta State was previously affected by insecurity and poor infrastructure, making it difficult for practitioners to access filming locations and other necessary facilities.

He, however, said the situation has improved significantly under Governor Oborevwori’s administration, especially with ongoing developments in road infrastructure and security across the state.

Ogbeni pointed to the Asaba Film Village as one of the major projects supporting the growth of the movie industry, noting that Governor Oborevwori contributed to the project during his time as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

He added that Delta State has continued to strengthen its reputation as a major creative hub in Southern Nigeria and has recently surpassed Lagos in the number of films produced annually.

The entertainment aide further stated that the governor’s leadership has restored hope and confidence among residents, while demonstrating that governance should be measured through visible achievements, accountability, and service delivery.

He noted that signs of development are becoming more evident across the state through ongoing infrastructural projects, economic reforms, and increased attention to tourism, arts, entertainment, technology, and youth empowerment.

Ogbeni also said the administration’s support for the creative industry has helped create opportunities for young people, promote Delta culture, encourage tourism, and improve the state’s visibility internationally.

He commended Governor Oborevwori for inspiring many young Deltans to believe that the state can maintain its position not only as an oil-producing state but also as a centre for film, entertainment, arts, tourism, and innovation.

“As Governor Sheriff Oborevwori marks his third anniversary in office, we celebrate not only the achievements already recorded but also the brighter future ahead for Delta State under his leadership,” he stated.

He also prayed for God’s wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor as he continues to lead the state toward greater development and prosperity.
