Delta Police Arrest Woman, Recover 10 Live Cartridges in Agbor

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered live ammunition and quantities of drinks suspected to be adulterated in separate operations in Agbor and Warri.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.

In Agbor, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 28-year-old woman, Happiness Clifford, following intelligence on alleged gun-running activities in Ika South Local Government Area.

The police said a search of her hideout led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges allegedly concealed inside a bucket.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as an alleged major supplier of the ammunition.

The command said efforts were ongoing to arrest Okoro as investigation continued.

Police intercept suspected adulterated drinks in Warri

In a separate operation in Warri, SAKU operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna allegedly conveying quantities of a drink known as “Gbefun Hot Drink”.

The police said the products were suspected to be adulterated.

The vehicle was intercepted on August 17 during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri-Agbarho Expressway.

The 44-year-old driver was arrested, while further investigation reportedly led the police to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri.

According to the command, additional quantities of the suspected adulterated drink and other beverages were recovered from the warehouse.

A Suzuki Shuttle bus reportedly loaded with similar products was also recovered.

The police said the suspected operators of the warehouse fled after sighting the operatives.

The command added that efforts were underway to arrest the fleeing suspects and to establish the source and distribution network of the suspected adulterated products.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for the two breakthroughs.

Oyeniyi directed that the investigations be conducted diligently and that everyone found to be connected to the alleged offences should be brought to justice.

He also urged residents to continue providing the police with credible and timely information to support efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property across the state.
