Twenty-two suspected cultists arrested in Eku and Owhelogbo communities, Delta State, have been arraigned in separate court proceedings over alleged cult-related offences.
The Delta State Police Command said 15 suspects arrested in Eku were arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Warri on September 25, 2026.
The remaining seven suspects arrested in Owhelogbo were arraigned separately before a Chief Magistrate Court.
The suspects were charged with conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society, including alleged membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Arobag.
The 15 Eku suspects were arrested and subsequently taken into custody by operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit, Sector 2, Ozoro, before their arraignment at the Federal High Court.
The seven Owhelogbo suspects were also arrested by operatives of the anti-cult unit before they were taken before the Chief Magistrate Court.
The two courts ordered the respective groups of suspects to be remanded in correctional custody pending further proceedings.
Those arraigned included Best Enarisa, 45; Alex David, 33; Precious Onokponu, 30; Joel Odafe, 19; Zino Oghene, 33; Oghenero Gabriel, 35; and Ofego Omaoke, 25, among others.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, said the command would investigate the cases and prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.
He urged people involved in cult activities to desist and called on parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to provide credible information to help prevent cult-related violence.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, adding that the command would sustain its anti-cultism operations across the state.
The command said the operations were aimed at curbing cult-related activities and improving security in Delta communities.
