Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured residents that the state is entering a new phase of growth and prosperity as it marks its 35th anniversary.
Oborevwori, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba on Thursday, congratulated Deltans at home and abroad on the anniversary and described the occasion as an important milestone in the state’s history.
Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, from the former Bendel State.
The governor said the state’s 35-year journey had been marked by resilience, unity and the contributions of its people across different sectors.
He commended past governors and other leaders, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, private sector operators and residents for their roles in building the state.
Oborevwori said his administration would continue to build on the achievements of previous governments through people-focused policies, infrastructure development, economic expansion and inclusive governance.
He said the projects and other development activities taking place across the state were part of efforts to improve the lives of residents and create more opportunities.
The governor urged Deltans to remain united and support the government’s development programmes, stressing that the future of the state depended on the collective efforts of its people.
He said Delta had the potential to achieve greater progress in the years ahead.
“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.
“The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” he said.
Oborevwori wished Deltans a successful anniversary celebration and called for continued commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in building a better state.
