Chief Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as outstanding achievements in office, saying the governor’s performance has earned him the support of many Deltans.
Amori made the remarks on Wednesday in Asaba while receiving leaders of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), Delta State, who paid him a courtesy visit to discuss issues affecting their community.
Welcoming the delegation, Amori thanked the group for the visit and reiterated the state government’s commitment to promoting unity, inclusion, and cooperation among all ethnic groups in Delta State.
Responding to concerns raised by the Igala community about marginalisation, the Chief Adviser said it was the first time such complaints had been brought to his attention. He sympathised with the community and assured them that the government would address the issue.
“The government works better when people provide feedback. Now that these concerns have been brought forward, they will be looked into,” he said.
Amori described the Igala people as peaceful and hardworking, noting that they play a vital role in the state’s agricultural production and food security.
“I know the Igala community to be peaceful people, and their contribution to food production in Delta State is highly commendable,” he stated.
Speaking on security, Amori said Delta State remains one of the more peaceful states in the country despite the security challenges Nigeria is facing Niare geris completely free of security challenges, compared to many other states, Delta remains relatively peaceful and stable,” he said.
He attributed the state’s peace and development to the policies and programmes of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and urged residents to continue supporting the government.
According to him, supporting the administration would benefit all residents and help sustain ongoing development efforts across the state.
Amori also assured the delegation that the government would continue to recognise and support individuals and groups making positive contributions to the state’s growth and development.
Reflecting on his years in public service, he said Governor Oborevwori’s performance stands out among the administrations he has worked with.
“I have worked with four governors, and I can confidently say that Governor Oborevwori has performed tremendously well. With his connection to the grassroots and his achievements in office, he has earned the trust and support of the people,” Amori said.
Earlier, the Political Leader of the Igala Cultural Development Association, Mr Jude Bamigwuojo, said the visit was aimed at drawing the government’s attention to issues affecting the Igala community and exploring areas of cooperation for mutual development.
He noted that the association has continued to support the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and commended the administration for maintaining peace and security across the state.
Also speaking, the President-General of the Igala Community in Delta State, Engr. Amodu Agebie, expressed concern over what he described as the community’s exclusion from some empowerment programmes despite its contributions to the state’s economy and agricultural sector.
However, he reaffirmed the community’s support for Governor Oborevwori and disclosed that members were already mobilising to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation also commended the governor’s developmental projects and inclusive style of leadership, pledging continued support for initiatives that promote peace, unity, and development in Delta State.
