ACNPN HONOURS ANIAGWU WITH MEDIA EXCELLENCE AWARD.

… Names Him ‘ACNPN Peace Ambassador’

By Patrick Ochei

The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter has honoured the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu with the Media Excellence Award, describing him as ‘ACNPN Peace Ambassador’ and a solid contributor to the SMART Agenda of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, now metamorphosed into Stronger Delta Agenda, through his media engagements and promotions.

The award was presented to him in his office on Monday 9th December, 2019, as a fallout from the ACNPN 2019 Lecture/Award, which the commissioner noted that it clashed with the NIPR 2019 Conference/AGM and that he had to represent the Governor at the event.

Presenting the award, the ACNPN Chairman who led other members of the organising committee on the mission, Mr Jude Obiemenyego recognised the enormous value Aniagwu had brought into the practice of journalism and the dexterity with which he manages information in the state.

Obiemenyego commended the Commissioner for his commitment to the Stronger Delta vision of Okowa, adding that he had used his sagacity and impeccable experience in the media to establish a sustainable cordial relationship with the media constituency in the state, which he said was expectedly yielding the desired support to the Administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta State.

The ACNPN Chairman who is the publisher of the Zion Newspaper, affirmed that the group had to recognise the astute and ebullient Commissioner with the Media Excellence Award, just to pave way for better relationships, opportunities and development of the practice of journalism and its practitioners in the state.

Responding, the former CPS who was elevated to Commissioner of Information in Okowa’s second term, felt honoured and appreciated the group for such a rare recognition from the grassroots based media executives.

“I must appreciate the leadership being provided by Jude Obiemenyego for community newspaper publishers in the state, despite all the odds. I must confess that ACNPN is providing the media alternative needed for people at the grassroots.

“I once again thank you for the award; it’s a call for higher responsibility. On my part, I will continue to pursue peace amongst the various groups within the media constituency under my watch in order to help advance the course of journalism”, he said.

The Commissioner therefore, suggested a platform for regular interaction on how to better position the community newspapering business and empower the publishers for optimal performance in the art of gathering community based news reports and disseminating government’s feedback to them.

He assured that government would continue to partner the publishers to succeed in their trade, adding that going forward, the business of community newspaper publications must progress as a way of advancing the economic frontiers of the Governor’s prosperity for all Deltans mantra.
