TikTok is testing a new video Q&A feature that enables creators to a great extent directly respond to their audience’s questions with either text or video answers.
The company disclosed this in a tweet posted on Twitter, stating that currently, creators can respond to individual questions in their comments by publishing a new video with an answer or they can leave a reply text comment.
The company confirmed the feature to TechCrunch, which said it’s currently only available to select creators via an opt-in test.
Meanwhile, Q&As are for creators who want to engage with fans when live streaming. It can be hard for creators to respond to thousands of questions on the existing live chat interface, so the Q&A option will let them easily and directly respond to more questions.
Available, users can tap the Q&A button in a video’s comment field or submit questions directly through a Q&A link on a creator’s profile page. Creators can then view all the questions in one place – and there’s no limit to the number of questions the creator can receive. creators don’t have to reply to every question.
The feature was first spotted by social media consultant, Matt Navarra, who posted screenshots of what the feature looks like in action, including how it appears on users’ profiles.
During the test, the new Q&A feature is only being made available to creators with public Creator Accounts that have more than 10,000 followers and who have opted in to the feature within their Settings.
The new feature confirmed to TechCrunch, will be rolled out globally in a couple of weeks as announced by TikTok.
