Leaders and stakeholders of Oginibo Community in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other All Progressives Congress candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The community also endorsed the re-election bids of Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District; the member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Francis Waive; and the member representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Festus Utuama.
The decision was contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Oginibo Town Square and read by the Secretary-General of the community, Mr Tisha Matthew ACA.
The stakeholders also dismissed reports that the community had withdrawn its support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and the other APC candidates.
The leaders said their continued support for the governor was based on what they described as his inclusive governance and infrastructure projects across Delta State under the MORE Agenda.
The motion to reaffirm the community’s support was moved by the President-General of Oginibo Community, Mr Israel Opheghe, and seconded by the councillor representing Ward 16 in the Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Mrs Ejayeta Sunday.
When the motion was put to a voice vote by Sir Isaiah Kekeje, it received an overwhelming endorsement from the stakeholders.
The meeting also addressed reports linking the alleged withdrawal of the community’s support to a disagreement involving two of its sons, Comrade Reuben Izeze and Mr Temple Mudi.
The stakeholders dismissed the reports, insisting that the community remained committed to its political position.
Displaying placards at the meeting, the stakeholders declared their support for Oborevwori’s re-election and the APC.
One of the placards read, “Oborevwori’s Emergence 2027 Is Oginibo/Izeze’s Priority,” while another stated, “Oginibo Community Reaffirms Support for Oborevwori.”
Other placards urged members of the public to ignore what the community described as fake rumours and declared support for the APC and the Renewed Hope and MORE Agenda.
Speaking at the meeting, former APC Chairman in Ughelli South, Sir Engr. Isaiah Kekeje, commended Oborevwori for appointing Izeze as Commissioner for Works, Highways and Urban Roads.
Kekeje said the appointment had been justified, describing Izeze as an important part of the governor’s infrastructure agenda.
He said Izeze had contributed to efforts to ensure that road projects across the state met the required standards of quality and durability.
Kekeje also praised the governor for ongoing road projects in the Eyara and Imode communities in Ughievwen Kingdom, as well as other infrastructure projects in Ughelli South.
Other speakers, including the Oginibo Youth Leader, James Ejemeria; Otota Ewheya of Oginibo Community, Mrs Helen Diajiyere; and Otota Emete of Oginibo Community, Madam Baby Krakra, also commended the governor’s infrastructure development efforts.
They said the projects had impacted communities in Ughelli South and other parts of Delta State.
The meeting ended with prayers by Pa Itila Otu, the oldest person present and a member of the Elders-in-Council.
He prayed for Tinubu, Oborevwori, the other APC candidates and Izeze, whom the community leaders described as a worthy son.
Among those who attended the meeting were Chief Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe, Hon James Avwomakpa, Hon Onokata Freeborn, Benjamin Omogosibo, Pastor Okoro Emoefe, Evangelist Lucky Chane, Elder Dan Pela, Sir Ezekiel Kekeje, Chief S.Z. Akporuru, Comrade Popor Augustine, Dr Scott Emuobo Oghenekaro, Harry Sandys-Uwho, Amos Godwin, Madam Onajite Ukrakpor and Ogbefere Oghenero.
