NPF dismissed officer seen in viral video checking passenger’s phone

Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri, a police officer with Force No. 509745 attached to Dolphin Divisional Headquarters, Lagos Police Command has been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force.

Kadiri’s dismissal came after he was seen in a viral video checking a passenger’s phone.

His dismissal was based on misconduct, disobedience to a lawful order, and assault on a member of the public.

This was made known by, the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, August 12, 2022.

According to the Force spokesperson, on August 3, 2022, Kadiri, who joined the Nigerian Police Force on December 6, 2022, was seen in a viral video checking out the phone of a commuter by the roadside, an offence that is contrary to the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba.

In the statement, the NPF warns officers of the Force to maintain professionalism and politeness to members of the public while discharging their duties.

The Force also urged members of the public to ensure proper conduct in all clashes with the police to prevent infractions that may lead to prosecution.
