The Delta State Police Command says 23 motorists have been convicted for various traffic offences as part of an ongoing enforcement exercise aimed at improving road safety across the state.
The Command also confirmed that 26 vehicles were impounded for different violations and taken before a mobile court set up by the Delta State Government for quick trial and judgment.
According to the police, the enforcement drive follows directives from the Inspector-General of Police and is designed to ensure compliance with traffic laws, reduce road accidents, and maintain order on major roads.
The Command explained that the operation targets drivers who break traffic rules in ways that endanger lives and disrupt the smooth flow of movement within the state.
At the end of the court sittings, 23 offenders were found guilty and fined according to the nature of their offences, while three others were discharged and acquitted.
The police described the outcome as part of efforts to ensure transparent and lawful enforcement of traffic regulations in Delta State.
Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, said the exercise would continue across the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen road discipline.
He warned motorists that traffic violations would not be tolerated, adding that offenders would continue to be arrested and prosecuted.
“Motorists must ensure their vehicles are properly registered and comply with all traffic rules. Anyone who violates the law will face the consequences,” CP Oyeniyi said.
He added that the campaign is part of broader measures to reduce accidents and promote safer roads across Delta State.
