University Staff Asked To Donate Monthly For Development

The Chairman of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Prof. Akinbo Adesomoju, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to assist the university in the area of infrastructural development.

He also appealed to the members of staff and management of the institution to contribute towards the development of the university.

Adesomoju stated this at the foundation laying ceremony of a students’ relaxation centre building on the campus of the university. The building was donated by a former Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, and his friends who were also friends of the university.

The Chairman, who expressed delight over the development, noted that Prof. Ogen and other donors had greatly challenged members of the University Governing Council to come up with their own monumental project for the institution.

The academic don said “Gestures we have been getting from our people are what they can benefit from the university and not what they can give to it.”

While appealing to the members of staff of the institution to render assistance to the school, Adesomoju said, “even a sum of N2,000 monthly or donation of materials by members of staff can make a big difference.”

In his remarks, Prof. Ogen said the gesture was done in the spirit of giving back to the society. He called on the indigenes of the state to come to the assistance of the university in the area of infrastructural development.

“Government alone must not be expected to perform all the developmental needs of the institution. Your widow’s mite will go a long way in taking the university to greater heights,” he appealed.
