DSTG PLEDGES RESOLVE TO REPOSITION SACA SERVICE DELIVERY.

The Delta State Government has reiterated it’s desire to reposition its State Agency for Control of HIV/ AIDS (SACA) to enable it perform it’s duties efficiently and effectively.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Mr. Chiedu Ebie made this known when he played host to the South-South Zonal Coordinator of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).

The SSG said that the Government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is passionate about the State health sector, hence at the assumption of office in his first tenure, he made sure that a bill to set up the Contributory Health Scheme in the State was passed into law by the State House of Assembly so that Deltans can enjoy full health coverage.

He assured the South-South Zonal Coordinator of NACA that the State Government would support the State Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS (SACA) to ensure that HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the State is reduced to the barest minimum even as he urged SACA officials to be alive to their duties as a lot depended on them to achieve this goal.

Earlier, the South -South Zonal Coordinator of NACA Dr. Uduak Daniel said she and her team were in the State for a sensitization visit as the South- South office of NACA was recently commissioned and there was need to visit each State under the Region.

She said research had shown that the prevalence rate of HIV/ AIDS in the Region was high and a lot of people affected with the disease did not have access to treatment and pleaded for the support of the State Government to reverse the trend.
