Dangote Industries Limited has announced a whistleblower programme that will reward anyone with N500,000 for providing useful information that leads to the arrest of people illegally using its branded trucks.
The company said the initiative is aimed at stopping unauthorised haulage activities and protecting its transport operations across the country from abuse.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dangote urged members of the public to report any truck carrying goods or passengers not approved by the company, warning that such activities are illegal.
The company said only approved products are allowed to be transported by trucks belonging to its subsidiaries.
According to the statement, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to transport only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products.
It added that trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.
The statement further explained that Dangote Packaging vehicles are meant to carry bags and packaging materials, while Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are approved for polypropylene products. It added that Dangote Fertiliser Limited trucks are authorised to transport only urea fertiliser.
The company warned that any of its trucks found transporting unauthorised goods would be treated as engaging in illegal haulage.
It said drivers and owners of such goods risk arrest, confiscation of the cargo and prosecution.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorised goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the statement said.
Dangote urged whistleblowers to provide details such as the truck type, registration number, cab number, location, description of the goods, vehicle colour and photographs where possible to support investigations.
The company added that dedicated hotlines have been set up to receive reports, while security agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest drivers using Dangote trucks for unauthorised commercial haulage.
It reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against logistics-related fraud, saying the whistleblower initiative is designed to promote transparency, accountability and compliance across its transport network.
The company also called on the public to support the campaign by reporting illegal activities, adding that the programme would help safeguard its assets, encourage lawful business practices and ensure offenders are prosecuted.
