The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa have called on members of the All Progressives Congress to mobilise voters across the state to deliver more than two million votes for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
They made the call on Thursday during the flag-off of the Delta APC 2027 election campaign in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, where party leaders also presented flags to candidates contesting various elective positions.
Oborevwori said his decision to join the APC followed wide consultations with political stakeholders and was aimed at aligning Delta State with the Federal Government to accelerate development.
He commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying increased revenue allocations had improved the ability of state and local governments to execute projects and meet their financial obligations.
The governor also disclosed that 17,500 Delta students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, urging more students to take advantage of the scheme.
He said, “We have 17,500 students in Delta State who have benefited from NELFUND. I encourage more students to apply and take advantage of the opportunity.”
Oborevwori also highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and healthcare, adding that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of police divisional headquarters in the 25 local government areas in anticipation of the establishment of state police.
At a separate rally in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, the governor appealed to the people to support the APC, urging them to show love to his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who is from Isoko.
He urged party members to take the campaign to the grassroots and work for the victory of all APC candidates.
Also speaking at the Ozoro rally, the governor’s wife called on the people of Isoko to support Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates.
She described voting as a powerful instrument of political expression, saying, “Your vote is your voice, your strength and your weapon. Use it to vote for APC.”
Former Governor Okowa challenged party members to work towards delivering more than two million votes for Tinubu and Oborevwori, stressing that the party must also secure victory in other elective positions.
The Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, said the administration had recorded progress in road construction, education and healthcare, urging residents to sustain their support.
The Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians but urged them to remain hopeful, saying the Federal Government’s reforms were already producing better results.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the rally, which he compared with the party’s national campaign.
He said the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms were designed to address the country’s challenges.
The state APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, presented party flags to candidates contesting the Delta South Senatorial District, Isoko Federal Constituency and the Isoko North and South constituencies.
He urged party members to ensure the party’s victory at their respective polling units.
The candidates who received the flags included Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for Delta South Senatorial District; Jonathan Ukodhiko for Isoko Federal Constituency; Lucky Idhode and Ferguson Onwo for Isoko South Constituencies I and II; and Orobosa Ashakah and Frank Ozue for Isoko North Constituencies I and II, respectively.
Other party leaders who addressed the rallies included the coordinators of the Isoko South and Isoko North Campaign Councils, Itiako Ikpokpo and Oviemuno Oghoore.
The member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Julius Pondi, commended the governor’s youth appointments and empowerment programmes, while the member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, pledged the support of women for the party’s candidates.
Former Delta APC governorship candidate, O’tega Emerhor, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay, Ovie Umuakpor and Chief Solomon Ogba also expressed support for the party.
Ogba highlighted the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Oleh and the planned dualisation of the Oleh Roundabout-Iyede Road, describing them as important developments for the Isoko area.
