2027: Delta APC to take Oborevwori’s re-election campaign to 25 LGAs

The All Progressives Congress in Delta State says it will take its 2027 re-election campaign for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to communities across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The party said it would engage residents directly to explain the administration’s achievements and seek their support, instead of relying solely on large political rallies.

The Chairman of the APC Delta State Campaign Council Media Committee, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this on Wednesday during a media briefing ahead of the party’s campaign flag-off scheduled for Thursday in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area.

Aniagwu said the campaign would involve both APC members and non-members, adding that the party intended to reach residents at the grassroots.

“Beyond the state-wide flag-off in Oleh, campaign activities will also take place in the various local government areas. We intend to visit communities and engage directly with residents rather than rely solely on large rallies,” he said.

He said the campaign would focus on infrastructure, job creation, investment, security and residents’ welfare, while explaining the administration’s MORE Plus agenda.

Explaining the meaning of MORE Plus, Aniagwu said the word ‘Plus’ represented an addition to the achievements of the MORE Agenda introduced by the governor in 2023.

“As a pupil in primary school, where we were taught arithmetic, the moment you say plus, it means there is an addition. We didn’t say more minus. We said more plus, which means we are taking it to a higher level,” he said.

He added, “If you have seen two bridges now, you will say five bridges as we navigate into 2027.”

The APC chieftain also attributed improved financial capacity of state and local governments to the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, saying the benefits were gradually reaching the people.

However, he acknowledged that Nigerians were still facing economic difficulties.

“We acknowledge that there are challenges. But even in a home when children are hungry, hunger is a challenge. Even when your mother starts cooking, you do not say that because you have a challenge, you do not need to take yam,” he said.

Aniagwu cited the proposed Olam Farms animal feed factory in Ogwashi-Uku, where a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, as an example of the administration’s efforts to attract investment and create jobs.

He said the factory would produce feed for poultry and fish farmers while creating a market for farmers supplying its raw materials.

He also said the proposed establishment of state police would create jobs and improve security, particularly by making it easier for farmers to access their farms.

Aniagwu added that governance would continue during the campaign, noting that the party would use its engagements to explain government policies and projects to residents.

The campaign flag-off is expected to hold at Oleh Township Stadium, with APC members and supporters from the 25 local government areas expected to attend.

The party is also expected to proceed to Ozoro for its Isoko South local government campaign.
