The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council, has commended the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, for his role in explaining government policies and strengthening communication between the Delta State Government and residents.
The council gave the commendation in a birthday message jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, and Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu.
The NUJ described Aniagwu as an experienced communicator and public servant who had distinguished himself through his accessibility, knowledge of governance and commitment to the development of Delta State.
According to the journalists’ body, Aniagwu’s experience in public relations and government communication has enabled him to simplify policies and programmes for members of the public.
It said his ability to articulate government positions and respond to issues of public interest had earned him respect within and outside the media industry.
The NUJ also praised the commissioner for maintaining a cordial relationship with journalists and recognising the media’s role in promoting accountability, good governance and democracy.
The council said Aniagwu’s current responsibility for Works (Rural Roads), alongside his public information duties, placed him in a position to contribute to development at the grassroots.
It noted that improved rural roads and connectivity could help open up communities and support more inclusive development across the state.
“On this special occasion, we celebrate a man whose life and career have been defined by service, dedication and an uncommon commitment to the public good,” the council stated.
It added that Aniagwu’s contributions to public communication, governance and the development of Delta State remained worthy of commendation.
The NUJ prayed for greater wisdom, good health and renewed strength for the commissioner, while wishing him many more years of impactful service.
The council also expressed optimism that Aniagwu’s new year would bring greater accomplishments and fulfilment.
