Oborevwori mourns veteran journalist Dave Okpogadie

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid tribute to veteran journalist and News Direct correspondent, Comrade Dave Okpogadie, following his death after a prolonged illness.

Okpogadie died on Saturday after battling jaw cancer for more than two years, bringing to an end a journalism career that earned him the respect of colleagues and members of the public.

The governor described the late journalist’s death as a painful loss to the media profession and Delta State, saying his dedication and commitment to journalism would be remembered.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, and the entire media community.

He described Okpogadie as a committed and professional journalist whose integrity and passion for the profession distinguished him throughout his career.

The governor also said the late journalist’s courage, resilience and unwavering faith during his long battle with illness inspired many people who supported him through the difficult period.

Oborevwori prayed for the peaceful repose of Okpogadie’s soul and asked God to comfort his family, friends, colleagues and members of the NUJ Delta State Council as they mourn his passing.
