Technology billionaire Elon Musk has become the world’s first trillionaire after the successful stock market debut of aerospace company SpaceX.
The historic milestone was achieved after SpaceX launched the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) ever, raising $75 billion and attracting strong interest from investors worldwide. The company’s shares were priced at $135 before trading began and later surged significantly on its first day on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
According to reports, Musk’s net worth jumped from about $707 billion earlier in the week to more than $1 trillion following the company’s successful market debut, making him the first person in history to reach the trillion-dollar mark.
SpaceX opened trading at $150 per share, above its IPO price, and climbed as high as $176 during the day. The strong performance pushed the company’s market value above $2 trillion, placing it among the world’s most valuable publicly traded companies.
The IPO also broke the previous record held by Saudi Aramco, which raised $25.6 billion during its 2019 stock market listing. SpaceX’s $75 billion offering is now the largest IPO ever recorded.
Despite the excitement surrounding the listing, market analysts say the real test for SpaceX will be whether investors continue to support the stock in the coming weeks and months after the initial surge.
Musk remains the largest shareholder in SpaceX, and the sharp increase in the company’s value significantly boosted his personal fortune. The achievement further strengthens his position as the richest person in the world.
