June 12: Greater Days Ahead for Nigeria, Oborevwori Assures Citizens

As Nigerians celebrate the 2026 Democracy Day, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, has expressed confidence that the country is on the path to a brighter future, urging citizens to remain united and committed to democratic values.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and praised them for their continued faith in democracy despite the economic and social challenges facing the nation.

Oborevwori described June 12 as a significant date in Nigeria’s history, noting that it represents the courage and determination of Nigerians who fought for democratic governance and the protection of citizens’ rights.

According to the governor, Democracy Day is not only a celebration but also an opportunity for both leaders and citizens to reflect on the country’s progress and work towards strengthening democratic institutions.

He stated that democracy remains the most effective system of government because it promotes accountability, transparency, respect for the rule of law, and gives citizens a voice in governance.

The governor called on Nigerians to continue supporting democratic institutions while embracing peace, tolerance, and national unity as key ingredients for the country’s growth and development.

Oborevwori also expressed optimism that ongoing reforms and the efforts of leaders across the country would eventually bring positive outcomes for Nigerians.

He urged citizens not to lose hope, stressing that with patriotism, collective effort, and commitment to nation-building, Nigeria can achieve greater progress in the years ahead.

The governor further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Deltans through infrastructure projects, people-focused policies, and programmes under the MORE Agenda.

He appealed to residents of Delta State and Nigerians generally to remain law-abiding and continue supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, economic growth, and sustainable development.

“With unity, dedication, and support for democratic governance, greater days are certainly ahead for Nigeria,” the governor said.
