In a tragic turn of events at Amazing Grace Estate in Elepe, Ikorodu, a 30-year-old man named Motunrayo Olaniyi is at the center of a shocking incident involving the death of his newlywed wife, Olajumoke.
Reports indicate that a heated argument between the couple escalated on Friday, leading to Motunrayo allegedly stabbing his 25-year-old wife multiple times before locking her in a room and setting it ablaze. The turmoil did not spare Motunrayo himself, as he also inflicted wounds upon himself following the act.
Upon receiving a distress call, the Lagos State Police Command swiftly responded to the scene. They managed to extinguish the fire and discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body with tragic abdominal wounds.
In an official statement, the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the distressing incident. Motunrayo was rescued and promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being taken into police custody.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had indeed stabbed his wife during the altercation and caused minor injuries to himself in the process. The deceased’s body was taken to Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy as the investigation continues to unfold.
