A man identified as Bitrus Wurawa has been remanded in the Correctional Center by a Lagos State High Court for allegedly stabbing one Ezekiel Yohana to death with a Jackknife at Kara Market in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the State.
It was gathered that Yahana, 23 years old was said to have borrowed N14,000 from Wurawa in January and promised to repay in a few weeks.
But, Yahana was unable to pay back despite several requests from the defendant.
In the process of an argument, Yahana was said to have brought out a jack-knife which the defendant immediately snatched from him and used to stab his back and hand.
Thereafter, the defendant was charged with one count of murder before Magistrate P. E Nwaka on April 10.
The charge reads “That you, Bitrus Wurawa, on March 18, 2023, around 6.23 pm at Kara Market, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District unlawfully killed one Ezekiel Yohana, 23, by stabbing him with a jackknife.”
According to the prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, Wurawa committed the offense on March 8.
Nurudeen put in that the crime is punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
He pleaded with the court to remand Wurawa to the correctional center pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
The defendant has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the DPP.
The case was adjourned till 5 May 2023 by the Magistrate.
