The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered one AK 47 rifle with nine live cartridges.
The suspected robber was arrested by the team of Safer-Highway that was stationed between Delta and Edo boundary along Sapele Benin road.
This was made known to newsmen in a statement on Friday, August 27, 2021, by the acting spokesperson of the State Command, DSP Bright Edafe.
According to DSP Edafe, the operation of stop and search that has been put in place by the Commissioner of Police Delta State command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, psc+ has been vital in helping the command in fighting crime in the state and help nip crime in the bud.
In the statement, DSP Edafe said as part of proactive policing, on Monday, August 23, 2021, at about 07:00 am, Safer-Highway teams were stationed between Delta/Edo boundary along Sapele Benin road while on stop and search duty intercepted a white color Nissan Maxima Reg. No. JJJ 494 ES.
According to DSP Edafe, the vehicle was flagged down for search. Upon searching the vehicle one AK 47 rifle with breach No. 7165 with nine (9) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered and the suspect one Davison Edehede ‘m’ 34yrs of Ugbor road Ukpaka area of Warri was arrested. The investigation is ongoing. Edafe added.
Also, in another arrest that happened on the same date at the same time as the former, Edafe noted that the command while acting on credible information that a cultist has been trailing one (name withheld), said the Delta State Police Command Raider operatives were detailed to investigate and unravel the person behind the threat.
The police spokesperson noted that the operatives went on an intelligence-led investigation and one Ifeanyi Ajudia ‘m’ was arrested at Ibusa.
He also noted that a search warrant was executed in the house and premise of the suspect where one locally fabricated berretta pistol without magazine was recovered. He added that the investigation is ongoing.
