Delta State Police Command arrested suspected cultists, armed robbers and recover guns

The Delta State Police Command has arrested and recorded another major feat against daredevil armed robbers and suspected cultists who specialized in stealing phones and burgled houses in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed and released to newsmen on Sunday, August 22, 2021, by the acting Delta State Police Commands’ Police Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, in Asaba the state capital.

In the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Mohammed Ali, warned criminally minded people that Delta state will not be a safe place for them.

The CP said under his watch, the state police command will continue to go after them until Delta state is free of criminal-minded people who have nothing to offer other than to cause pain and havoc on the good people of the state.

The CP has also mandated area commanders, DPOs, and Tactical commanders not to relent in the fight against crime and criminality.

It was gathered that on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at about 0825hrs, the command received a distress call that a gang of four armed robbers is operating at MTN road by pipeline in Sapele.

The DPO of Sapele led the crack team in conjunction with vigilante and during the operation, four suspects namely; James Wisdom a.k.a young diamond ‘m’ age 25yrs, Peter Ayodele ‘m’ age 22yrs, Ikolo Michael ‘m’ age 18yrs and Francis Success of age 26yrs were arrested.

The items recovered from them include three (3) cut-to-size single barrels gun with eighteen (18) cartridges, a Lexus car with Reg. No. YAB 750 BP. The investigation is ongoing.

Also, in a similar development that occurred on August 18, it was gathered at about 1000hrs, the command received an information that three armed men burgled a house at Old Benin Road in Oghara at about 0200hrs and made away with phones valued at N400,000.

While acting on credible information, the Divisional police officer of Oghara swung into action, detailed operative to investigate and bring the armed robbers to book.

The Detectives through an intelligence led operation arrested three suspects namely Choice Macaulay ‘m’ age 26yrs, Endurance Ejokirehie ‘m’ age 27yrs and Junior Macaulay ‘m’ age 21yrs at Indian hemp joint.

The exhibits recovered from them includes: three phones, a dummy gun, and iron rod used for the robbery. Meanwhile the suspects confessed to the crime and the victims have identified their stolen phones.

On further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects Choice Macaulay who is the leader of the gang was arrested before and charged to court, but was later released.

Although, the suspect led the detectives to their hideout where one locally-made gun and two live cartridges were dug out from the ground where it was buried. The investigation is ongoing.
