Mike Igini to Chair 2026 Bel Dialogue on Democracy in Asaba

Mike Igini has been announced as the Chairman of the Occasion for the second edition of Bel Dialogue, an annual public policy forum organised by Bel Media Consult Limited, publishers of Ndokwa Reporters and The Brief.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at David’s Event Centre, Anwai Road, Asaba, and is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

This year’s theme is “Democracy That Works: Bridging the Gap Between Votes, Results and Institutional Accountability.” According to the organisers, the discussion will focus on improving Nigeria’s democratic institutions, promoting accountable leadership, and restoring public trust in elections and governance.

Bel Dialogue is a non-partisan platform that brings together government officials, civil society groups, academics, traditional rulers, media professionals, and members of the public to discuss important national issues and suggest practical solutions.

Speaking on behalf of the Advisory Board Chairman, Pharm. Paul O. Enebeli, the Executive Director of Bel Dialogue, Emmanuel Enebeli, said Igini was chosen because of his strong reputation for promoting credible elections, transparency, and democratic accountability during his time with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said Igini’s experience and commitment to electoral integrity make him well-suited to lead discussions on strengthening democracy and ensuring that every vote counts.

Enebeli also explained that Bel Dialogue is different from a traditional lecture because it encourages open discussions where experts and participants can freely exchange ideas and recommend solutions to governance challenges.

He added that the organisers are finalising plans for the event, while the names of the moderator, discussants, and other speakers will be announced soon.

The organisers have invited public office holders, lawmakers, political leaders, professionals, academics, civil society organisations, traditional rulers, youth groups, the private sector, media practitioners, and interested Nigerians to attend and take part in the conversation.

They expressed confidence that this year’s Bel Dialogue will contribute meaningfully to national discussions on democratic governance, electoral reforms, and institutional accountability.
