The Action Alliance (AA) candidate for Imo North Senatorial District in the 2019 election, Ndubuisi Emenike, has been shot dead.

The Imo State Police command confirmed the killing on Sunday.

The report reveals that He was shot by his orderly, an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Its spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu, disclosed to journalists that Emenike was shot dead by the NSCDC personnel during a celebration gathering for APC’s Miriam Onuoha, the winner of the rerun Okigwe North Federal Constituency election.

Eyewitnesses in the scene said the NSCDC official was shooting consistently into the air and mistakenly shot his boss.

Emenike fell, lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to a hospital.

The Police also noted that the orderly responsible for the act is presently in custody and that the command has opened an investigation.
