Destma Commences Impounding Of Vehicles, Warns Motorists, Others

The Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA), has said the Authority has commenced the impounding of vehicles.

This was contained in a statement issued to journalists recently by the Delta State Director of information, Dona Obuseh

The statement observed that the authority will arrest and prosecute users of illegal number plates, illegal cover number plates, expired number plates and non registered vehicles in the State.

In the statement , Obuseh warned that for the avoidance of doubt, only the State Governor, Deputy Governor, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and the Chief Judge are authorized to use covered number plates.

Speaking further, the information boss stated that Illegal use of covered number plates and expired number plates is punishable under the approved DESTMA Law of 2013 .

He therefore posited that DESTMA has given a 21-day notice to all involved to desist from covering their number plates, using expired plate numbers.

He urged the general public particularly motorists to register their vehicles as failure to do so would lead to impounding of such vehicles .
