The Delta State Government has partnered with Dexteron Engineering Limited to speed up the construction of a 330kV transmission line aimed at improving electricity supply across the state.
The Commissioner for Energy, Michael Anoka, announced the partnership during a meeting with the management of the engineering company in Asaba on Thursday, describing it as a major step toward strengthening Delta’s power infrastructure.
According to Anoka, the project is expected to increase electricity transmission capacity, improve power distribution and provide a more stable electricity supply for residents, businesses and industries across the state.
He said the initiative aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which focuses on expanding critical infrastructure to drive economic growth, industrial development and improve the quality of life of residents.
The commissioner said discussions with the company focused on practical ways to fast-track the project, improve power evacuation and strengthen the state’s electricity network.
Anoka also reviewed the progress of the ongoing transmission project in Kwale, expressing confidence that it would significantly improve power supply despite earlier regulatory and procurement challenges.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to working with experienced and competent firms to deliver modern electricity infrastructure capable of meeting Delta’s growing energy needs.
According to him, expanding the transmission network will attract more investments, boost industrial activities, create jobs and improve access to electricity in both urban and rural communities.
He also asked Dexteron Engineering Limited to submit a detailed proposal outlining the project’s estimated cost, implementation timeline, engineering specifications and other technical requirements.
Speaking at the meeting, the Head of Operations of Dexteron Engineering Limited, Agbanuji David, said the company has completed more than 2,500 kilometres of transmission line projects across Nigeria.
He added that the company’s transmission towers meet international standards after undergoing rigorous testing to ensure durability, efficiency and long-term reliability.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Byron Unini, the Director of Electricity Power Supply, Stanley Efenudu, and other officials.
