Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, David Jumbo, better known by his stage name as Mr. 2kay has revealed why he decided to settle out of court with fellow singer, Burna Boy who allegedly sent thugs to attack him in 2017.
Mr. 2kay disclosed this in an interview with Sunday Scoop, a journalist at Punch Newspaper.
According to Mr. 2kay during the interview said, the incident occurred four years ago when Burna Boy allegedly sent thugs to attack him at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Mr. 2kay also explained how they both went back and forth on the case despite the arrest of the guys who attacked him. He said the guys were arrested and were locked up for over two years.
The singer also said that a lot of persons he respected were later involved in the persuasion of him terminating the case from court.
He said, the parents of the thugs and Burna Boy’s people keeping begging him, he added, his godfather, Tony Princewill, and his kinsmen also reached out to him and he had to respect them.
He went further to explain that Burna Boy also reached to him severally after the incident, especially when the case was still very hot, insisting that such part of the story wasn’t available in the media.
While answering back on what happened between them, Mr. 2kay said, he had taken his mind off it, as it was sometimes affecting his mental health whenever he heard the sound of the door opening or when he saw someone with a gun, stating that, he cannot give details of what happened but he recalls that it all started from after when they both exchange words on social media concerning a question he answered during an interview with a journalist, and Burna Boy decode the answer to the question in another dimension simply because he (Burna Boy) did not get it right.
When asked about collaboration with him in the future, the singer said he doesn’t have any direct contact with Burna Boy at the moment.
He added, “I cannot say for now but I am in talks with his mum, who doubles as his manager.
Mr. 2kay during the interview also talks about his second child that will be four years old this year. He said “My child, Alisha, and her mother, Gifty Powers is fine. He said, Gifty is now married but he’s still single.
Mr. 2kay who responds to Gifty’s claim, accusing him of not being the father of her daughter, said, “She (Gifty) cannot deny that I am not the father of the child. That is not possible.”
While still responding about the claim of his daughter, he was asked about getting married to an entertainer, he alleges that he cannot get married to an entertainer but he can date someone in the entertainment industry.
He added, “If, for marriage, I need to find someone that is far away from showbiz because it is a crazy space.”
