The Delta State Government, through the Office of Widows’ Welfare Scheme, has put smiles in the faces of widows by distributing Mellon Shelling Machines and power generating sets to them.
Chief Isioma Okonta, chairman of the scheme, distributed the equipment to the beneficiaries at Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.
The chairman was accompanied by members of his management team, such as Dr. Emmanuel Mafiana, Hon. Jerry Eruvwede, Hon. Humphrey Uzuakpundu, Hon. Mrs. Iroro Onyearo, Hon. Tony Onah, Hon. Nkechi Chukwurah, Hon. Dele Akpatashi, Hon. Ikechukwu Uwagwu, and the host of others.
According to him, the widows who benefited from the scheme, cut across the Nine (9) local government areas of Delta North, stressing: “This special empowerment programme implemented by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa through the Office of Widows’ Welfare Scheme is in collaboration with the state Job Creation Bureau, led by professor Eric Eboh.”
Chief Okonta also disclosed that widows from Delta Central and South senatorial Districts had taken their turn a few months ago at Government House Annex, Warri.
Receiving the equipment, the widows who could not hide their joy, commended and prayed to God to strengthen and bless Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the team administering the scheme beyond measures.
