The Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing Worldwide has inaugurated new executives for its Asaba branch, with Engr. Kelly Omomuyovwi Atare emerging as president.
The National President of the youth wing, Activist Blessed Oghenero Ughere, swore in Atare and other members of the executive during a ceremony held in Asaba, Delta State.
Ughere urged the new executives to uphold Urhobo cultural values and avoid actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Urhobo people.
He also charged them to promote Urhobo culture among members in the diaspora, embark on an aggressive membership drive and work together to strengthen unity within the branch.
The inauguration was attended by the Chairman of the Asaba Chapter, Mr Oke Edejere, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Austin Akpede, among others.
Other members of the executive inaugurated were Mr John Odin, Vice President; Engr Victor Ovwere, Secretary; Egbo Ighosotu Ferdinand, Speaker; Comr Vincent Ovomaroyeni Ugbune, Media Officer; Comr (Mrs) Happy Aghogho Okolo, Financial Secretary; Blessing Gbeta, Treasurer; Idama Godwin Obruche, Media Personnel; and Ms Ese Anna Avwatitomo, Welfare Officer.
The new executives are expected to strengthen the activities of the youth wing and promote the interests and cultural heritage of the Urhobo people in Asaba.
