Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has praised the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, for promoting peace, unity and development in Warri Kingdom as the monarch marks five years on the throne.
Oborevwori, in a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, on Friday in Asaba, described the Olu as a visionary traditional ruler whose reign had strengthened cooperation among the people of Warri Kingdom.
The governor said Atuwatse III had demonstrated responsible leadership since his coronation and contributed to efforts to revive the socio-economic fortunes of the kingdom.
He also commended the monarch for promoting the culture and traditions of the Itsekiri people while encouraging peaceful relations with other ethnic groups in Delta State.
According to Oborevwori, the Olu’s approach to traditional leadership has helped promote stability and created greater confidence among the people.
The governor described Atuwatse III as “a man of peace, a bridge-builder and a person of profound integrity.”
He urged the people of Warri Kingdom to continue supporting the monarch as he works towards achieving his vision for a united and prosperous Iwere nation.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I warmly felicitate His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, on the occasion of his fifth coronation anniversary,” Oborevwori said.
The governor said the monarch had remained committed to the welfare of his people and the preservation of Itsekiri customs and traditions.
He added that the Olu’s reign had also encouraged peace, unity and socio-cultural cooperation between the Itsekiri and other ethnic groups in the state.
Oborevwori prayed for continued wisdom, strength and good health for the monarch to enable him to provide effective traditional and cultural leadership.
The governor’s message comes as the Olu marks his fifth anniversary on the throne, with his reign continuing to attract attention to the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and development across Delta State.
