Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Christian leaders in the state to support President Bola Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oborevwori appealed on Wednesday when the Executive Committee of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Delta State chapter, led by its Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, visited him at the Government House, Asaba, for a special prayer session.
The governor said his membership of the APC required him to work for the success of the party and its candidates, including President Tinubu.
“I am an APC man. I must work for my President, and I must work for my candidates. I will continue to speak for them,” Oborevwori said.
He also asked Christian leaders to pray for Tinubu and the country, particularly for wisdom, strength, good health and divine direction.
The governor said Christians who believed his administration was performing well should extend the same support to the President.
“If you love me and you believe I am doing well as Governor, extend that love to Mr President and to all my candidates,” he said.

Oborevwori, who attributed his victory in the 2023 governorship election to God and the prayers of Christian leaders, said the 2027 elections should not be determined solely by political calculations.
He maintained that God remained the ultimate authority in determining who would occupy political offices.
The governor also defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms, saying they had improved the financial capacity of state and local governments to execute development projects.
According to him, local governments that previously struggled to pay salaries and execute projects could now undertake projects such as road construction and health facilities.
“Before now, to pay salaries was a problem. To construct roads was a problem. Councils could not even execute projects. But now, local governments can do projects because the reforms are working,” he said.
Oborevwori said his administration was using increased resources to provide infrastructure and other projects across Delta State, adding that several projects had been completed while others were ongoing.
He also urged Christians to participate responsibly in politics, saying political decisions affect virtually every aspect of society.
The governor appealed to the church not to completely distance itself from the political process, stressing that prayers and responsible participation were important to the development of the country.
He further urged the Christian community to continue praying for peace and stability in Delta State.
“Pray for Mr President, pray for the state. Pray for good governance. Pray for peace and unity. I know God will continue to lead us,” he said.
Earlier, the PFN delegation prayed for the governor, his administration, Delta State and Nigeria.
The PFN Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, commended Oborevwori for what he described as achievements in infrastructure, peace and development across the state.
Willie also praised the governor’s handling of potentially tense situations and his efforts to maintain peace in the state.
He said the PFN would continue to pray for Oborevwori and his administration, particularly as the 2027 elections approach.
The PFN chairman disclosed that the fellowship planned to establish prayer centres across the state to pray for peaceful campaigns and a violence-free electoral process.
He also said the PFN was strengthening its grassroots structure, with about 4,150 ward officers and coordinators expected to be deployed across the state.
Willie disclosed that the fellowship had established a College of Theology with more than 300 students and was completing a hatchery project as part of its contribution to economic empowerment.
He further commended the governor for organising the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, describing it as an important step towards attracting investment and strengthening the state’s economy.
The PFN chairman assured Oborevwori of the fellowship’s continued prayers for wisdom, divine favour and strength to lead the state.
