Delta Transport Directorate Highlights Achievements Under Oborevwori

The Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Onoriode Agofure, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori on the third anniversary of his administration, praising his leadership and commitment to development in the state.

Agofure, alongside the management and staff of the Directorate of Transport, described the governor’s three years in office as a period of steady progress, infrastructural development, and people-focused governance under the M.O.R.E Agenda.

In a statement, the commissioner said Governor Oborevwori’s administration has continued to improve the living conditions of residents through policies and projects aimed at sustainable growth and economic development across Delta State.

He noted that the Directorate of Transport has also achieved significant milestones in the transport sector, aligning with the governor’s vision for a modern, secure, and efficient transportation system.

According to him, one of the major projects introduced by the state government is the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, which enables security agencies to track vehicles in real-time to improve compliance with vehicle registration laws.

He added that the establishment of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station would provide residents with cleaner, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly transportation options while helping to reduce transport costs.

Agofure further stated that the renovation of Vehicle Inspection Offices (VIOs), including the office in Ogwashi-Uku, has improved service delivery, operational efficiency, and the welfare of residents.

He also highlighted the digitalisation of vehicle documentation and licensing processes, saying the reforms have reduced delays, improved efficiency, and helped prevent revenue leakages in the transport sector.

The commissioner said the Directorate has strengthened its relationship with transport unions and private operators to encourage safer and more reliable transportation services across the state.

Agofure described the achievements as a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s support and commitment to improving all sectors of the state economy.

He assured residents that the Directorate of Transport would continue to introduce policies and innovations that would improve connectivity, safety, and sustainability in Delta State’s transport system.

The commissioner also prayed for God’s wisdom, strength, and protection for Governor Oborevwori as he marks his third anniversary in office.

He expressed hope that the administration would continue to record greater achievements and bring more development and prosperity to the people of Delta State.
