Former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has officially resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his political interests and those of his supporters are better pursued outside the party.
Omo-Agege made the announcement in a formal resignation letter dated May 22, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of APC in Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
In the letter, the former Senate Deputy President said his decision followed a review of recent political developments within the APC in Delta State, as well as consultations with his associates and supporters.
He stated that it had become clear to him that remaining in the party would no longer allow him to effectively pursue the political and developmental interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria.
Omo-Agege also said he would not remain in a position where he could not advance the interests of his constituents, stressing that his priorities were now better served outside the APC.
He thanked the party for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, describing it as a significant period in his political career.
The former lawmaker requested that his name be removed from all APC membership records, registers, and communication lists with immediate effect.
He, however, reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving his constituents and promoting development in Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
Omo-Agege added that he would continue his political and developmental activities outside the APC platform going forward.
The resignation marks a major political development in Delta State, where Omo-Agege remains a prominent political figure and leader.
