President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured a decisive victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held in Delta State, as party members across the 270 wards participated in a large-scale voting exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made on Saturday at the APC State Secretariat in Asaba by Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who served as the state collation officer for the exercise.
Presenting the official figures, Oborevwori said Tinubu polled 407,646 votes, emerging overwhelmingly ahead of his sole challenger, Mr Stanley Osifo, who did not record any vote.
He explained that the exercise recorded almost full participation from the party’s membership base, with 407,815 registered APC members in Delta State and 407,646 accredited voters taking part in the process.
According to him, the figures reflected what he described as strong internal mobilisation and commitment by party members across the state.
The governor declared that all valid votes cast were credited to President Tinubu, resulting in a clean sweep of the exercise.
“As the collation officer, I hereby announce that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having scored the highest number of votes, is declared the winner of the APC presidential primary election in Delta State,” he said.
After announcing the result, Oborevwori praised APC members for what he described as an orderly, peaceful and highly coordinated exercise across the state.
He said the turnout showed the strength of the APC structure in Delta and growing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The governor also commended members in riverine and remote communities for participating actively despite transportation and logistical challenges.
He noted that the use of direct primaries allowed broader participation and strengthened internal democracy within the party.
According to him, the process allowed members to directly influence decision-making and reinforced trust in the party’s leadership structure.
Oborevwori said the overwhelming result for Tinubu was a reflection of both party unity and increasing political support within the state.
He further credited ward-level mobilisation networks, including the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for ensuring strong participation in the exercise.
The governor expressed confidence that the APC would continue to build momentum ahead of future elections, citing progress in infrastructure development, security, education and healthcare.
He added that his administration remains committed to delivering development projects that would further strengthen public confidence in the party.
“The people are happy with what we are doing in terms of infrastructure, security, education and health. By the grace of God, all our candidates will be victorious in 2027,” Oborevwori said.
The election was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party leaders and stakeholders across Delta State.
Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon acted as the agent for President Tinubu, while Kelvin Omas Ezekiel represented Mr Stanley Osifo during the exercise.
