Grief in Delta as Woman Claims Police Killed Two of Her Sons

Grief and outrage have deepened in Delta State as the mother of 28-year-old musician, Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as OG Millan, alleged that she has lost two sons to police brutality in separate incidents.

The emotional revelation came during a condolence visit by social advocate and former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Harrison Gwamnishu, and members of his team.

In a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, the grieving mother was seen in tears as she narrated her ordeal, describing the pain of losing not one but two sons under controversial circumstances involving the police.

Sharing the video, Gwamnishu said the family’s story was deeply heartbreaking, revealing that the woman’s first son was allegedly arrested from his home in 2022 and later killed. According to him, authorities claimed the victim died during an exchange of gunfire, a version of events that has since been widely questioned.

He added that the recent death of Oghenemine Ogidi marks the second time the family has suffered such a loss, raising serious concerns about repeated incidents of alleged police brutality.

“No mother should have to endure this kind of pain twice. This is why accountability matters,” Gwamnishu stated.

The latest allegation comes amid growing public anger over the death of the young musician, who was reportedly shot by a police officer in Effurun during a police operation.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions, with many calling for justice, transparency, and reforms within the Nigeria Police Force. Advocacy groups and concerned citizens have continued to demand accountability, stressing the need to prevent further loss of lives.

As investigations into the latest killing continue, the family’s claims have added a new layer of urgency to calls for a thorough probe into alleged cases of police misconduct and the protection of citizens’ rights.
