Ubulu-Unor, Delta State | It was a colourful and memorable celebration on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the residence of the Odogwu of Ubulu-Unor, Chief Mayor Chinedu Enujeko, as he was formally honoured and installed as the Patron of the Agwuba Royal Dance Band of Ubulu-Unor.
The event drew traditional leaders, cultural enthusiasts, and prominent sons and daughters of the community, all gathered to witness the recognition of a man widely regarded for his leadership and service.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Secretary of the Agwuba Royal Dance Band, Chief Adudu Samuel, expressed deep appreciation to Chief Enujeko for warmly receiving the group and accepting the honour.
He described the dance group as one of the leading cultural troupes in Delta North, noting their consistent excellence at the annual Organization for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFFAC) celebrations, where they have repeatedly secured first position.
According to him, the decision to honour Chief Enujeko was based on his proven leadership qualities and contributions to the community.
“We chose him because of his outstanding capacity in leadership—as the War Lord (Odogwu) of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom and as Chairman of Delta North Traditional Title Holders across the nine local government areas of Delta State,” he said.
He added that the group is confident that Chief Enujeko’s patronage will elevate the band to greater heights, not only within Delta North but across Nigeria.
Chief Enujeko was further praised as a visionary leader known for his empathy, integrity, and ability to connect with people at the grassroots. His track record of service, especially among the youth, was highlighted as a major factor in his selection.
The Odogwu’s journey in leadership spans several roles within the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), where he rose from Local Government Chairman to State Chairman, then National President. He currently serves as a member of the NYCN Board of Trustees, Leader of the South-South Caucus Forum, Youth Ambassador, and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Youth Mobilization. He is also the Director-General of Signature Nigeria, a body overseeing electoral matters under the NYCN.
Also speaking at the event, His Royal Majesty, Obi Henry Kikachukwu, the Obi of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom and Second Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, commended the dance group for the honour bestowed on Chief Enujeko.
The monarch described the Odogwu as a selfless leader who empowers others rather than hoarding power.
“You deserve this honour. You are dynamic, adaptable, and always ready to develop your people. We are proud of you as our son,” the Obi said.
He also praised the Agwuba Royal Dance Band, describing it as a vital cultural institution in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
According to him, the group represents the spirit and heritage of the people of Ubulu-Unor, using music, rhythm, and dance to preserve tradition and tell the stories of their ancestors.
“Agwuba does not just entertain; they embody our culture. Their performances reflect confidence, purpose, and deep cultural identity,” he added.
The monarch further encouraged the group to innovate by introducing new dance styles, improving costumes, and involving younger members ahead of this year’s OFFAC Anioma Cultural Festival. He noted that the festival is expected to attract the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa.
In his response, Chief Enujeko expressed gratitude to the Agwuba Royal Dance Band for the honour, describing it as a privilege.
He pledged his full support toward the growth and transformation of the group, promising to promote their activities and cultural relevance at all levels.
The ceremony reached its peak with vibrant dance performances, as members of the Agwuba Royal Dance Band thrilled guests with energetic displays. The Odogwu, alongside friends and distinguished guests, joined in a special dance session, adding to the excitement and cultural splendour of the occasion.
Notable personalities in attendance included Chief Innocent Esumobi (Odoziobodo of Abah-Unor), Diokpa Kasimawuna Meshark, Diokpa DKC Okonkwo Mbanugwu, Mr. Sunday Enujeko, Prince Remigus Mukolo, and several other community leaders and dignitaries.
The event ended on a high note, leaving guests with a renewed sense of pride in the rich cultural heritage of Ubulu-Unor.
