“Communities Develop Faster When the Wealthy Give Back,” Says DIG Mohammed

Communities across Delta State have been encouraged to support development efforts by giving back to their hometowns. This message was shared by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ari Ali Mohammed during a civic reception held in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area.

The event was organised to thank God for the chieftaincy title of Onwanetilioha, recently conferred on Chief Mrs Yolanda Ndudi (Ozah) of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom.

Speaking at the ceremony, DIG Mohammed praised Chief (Dr) Jude Ozah and his wife for their remarkable contributions to the growth of the Ogwashi-Uku community, Delta State, and Nigeria. He described Chief Ozah’s developmental efforts as “monumental,” noting that during his time as Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Chief Ozah donated several vehicles and security equipment to help the police fight crime.

The DIG congratulated Chief Mrs Yolanda Ndudi on her new title, saying she truly deserved the honour. He described Chief Ozah as a rare philanthropist who is committed to the well-being of others, regardless of tribe, and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon his family.

Also speaking at the event, the Delta State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Halilu Hamidu, described Chief Ozah as a humble and detribalized man who genuinely cares about people. He added that personalities like his are rare.

The Chairman of the Arewa Traditional Council, Aniocha South, Alhaji Zayyanu Abdulkadir, also applauded Chief Ozah, calling him a unifier and a lover of peace. He said the Arewa community would continue to live peacefully with their host community because of leaders like him.

Several traditional rulers from across the South-East attended the ceremony, including the traditional ruler of Umuobom in Imo State, Eze Ekenedilichukwu Obinali, and the traditional ruler of Ojoto Kingdom in Anambra State, Igwe Uzodimma Adiriki, as well as Chief Emeka Obienu (the Ogodo of Oba), the Ezeagu of Okija, and Chief Nze Onyeka Wasley. They all described Chief Ozah as a great son of Ogwashi-Uku and a blessing to his generation.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Chief (Dr) Jude Ozah expressed gratitude to God for giving him the strength to contribute to the development of his community. He thanked the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo II, for honouring his family with the chieftaincy title and appreciated everyone who came to celebrate with them.
