Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially opened two new housing estates to help more people in the state find safe and comfortable places to live.
The new housing estates are:
- Olaleye New Town Estate in Iponri
- Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments in Obele-Oniwala, Surulere
These projects are part of the governor’s plan to make Lagos a better place for everyone, especially by giving more families the chance to own their own homes.
During the opening ceremonies, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that owning a home brings joy and peace, and that his government is working hard to help more people experience that happiness.
About the Estates:
- Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments This estate was built by the Lagos Building Investment Company (LBIC). It covers a large area of land (3.7 hectares) and has 378 apartments. These apartments come in different sizes—one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units. The apartments are modern, affordable, and made for the growing number of people living in Lagos.
- Olaleye New Town Estate This estate was built through a partnership between LBIC and a company called Exquisite Homes Ltd. It is on over 7,000 square metres of land and includes 64 four-bedroom homes called maisonettes. These homes are designed to be comfortable, safe, and stylish, with modern features.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said these estates are more than just buildings—they also help the economy. Many local workers, like engineers, architects, and builders, got jobs during the construction. The estates also have green areas to help protect the environment.
He thanked everyone who helped make the projects successful and reminded future residents to take good care of their homes and build strong, friendly communities.
The governor also mentioned that this is part of his government’s big plan called the THEMES Plus Agenda, which focuses on things like housing, clean cities, and making life better for all Lagosians.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said, “We are not just building houses—we are building homes where families can grow, children can play, and everyone can live happily and safely.”
These new estates are part of the dream to make Lagos a city where everyone has a chance to succeed and live well.
