Delta State Launches Whistleblower Line to Stop Bad Projects

Imagine seeing a brand-new road in your neighbourhood, but after a few months, it starts breaking apart. Or maybe a school building is being built, but it looks weak and unsafe. The Delta State Government wants you to help stop bad projects like these!

On Wednesday, the Delta State Government launched a whistle-blowing policy—a special way for people to report poor-quality projects happening in their communities. This means that if you see any road, school, hospital, or other project being done badly, you can send a message to the government and they will take action.

How to Report a Bad Project

If you notice a project that is not being done properly, you can send a text message, WhatsApp message, picture, or video to 09169978305. This will help the government quickly find out what is going wrong and fix it.

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this announcement in Asaba, the state capital. He was joined by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, and the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika.

Why Is This Important?

The government is spending money to build better roads, schools, hospitals, and other important projects for the people of Delta State. But sometimes, contractors (the people hired to do the work) use cheap materials or do a bad job. This leads to projects that fall apart quickly, wasting money and putting people in danger.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori wants to make sure that every kobo is spent wisely. That’s why he is asking everyone in Delta State to help check on these projects. If a project is not done well, he wants to know about it—no matter who is responsible, even if they are important people.

What Happens After You Report?

The government has promised to take action against contractors or officials who fail to do their jobs properly. In fact, even before the policy was officially announced, some people had already started reporting bad projects, and investigations have begun.

Is It Safe to Report?

Yes! The government has promised to keep the identity of whistleblowers secret. This means that no one will know who made the report, so you don’t have to worry about getting into trouble.

A Promise Kept

Governor Oborevwori had promised to make sure that public money is spent well, and this whistle-blowing policy is part of that promise. The government wants people to feel involved in making Delta State a better place, and this is one way to do it.

Final Message from the Government

If you see a poorly done project, don’t keep quiet! Send a message to 09169978305 and help make Delta State better for everyone.
