Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the former head of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), has been dismissed and arrested following the circulation of over 400 explicit videos involving him and multiple partners, including high-profile individuals’ spouses.
The scandal surfaced during a fraud investigation that revealed the videos, some of which were allegedly filmed within government office. This incident, which has gained significant public and media attention, led to a government crackdown on misconduct in public offices.
In response, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced the suspension of all officials implicated in such activities, citing a violation of public ethics and the government’s zero-tolerance stance on conduct that undermines public trust.
Surveillance measures are now being implemented to prevent further breaches within state offices.
