A tragic incident has rocked the Burra Correctional Centre in Bauchi State, where a correctional officer was allegedly killed by a fellow officer following a dispute over lunch. The incident, which took place in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area, saw long-time colleagues Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma and Kabiru Abubakar involved in a fatal altercation that quickly escalated.
Eyewitnesses recount that the disagreement began when Kabiru insisted on sharing Chiroma’s meal, which led to a heated argument. The situation spiraled out of control, ending in Chiroma’s death. Despite their close friendship, tensions over the trivial matter resulted in tragedy.
Aminu Ahmed, the Public Relations Officer of the Burra Correctional Centre, confirmed the incident but stressed that it occurred outside the facility. He also revealed that Chiroma hailed from Giade Local Government Area, while Kabiru, now in police custody, is from Dass LGA.
The deceased officer’s body has since been handed over to his family for burial, while authorities continue their investigation into the shocking event.
