Nigerian skit maker and artiste, Carter Efe, revealed how popular Afrobeats singer and Grammy Award nominee, Ahmed Ololade better known as Asake was chased off the stage during his concert last year at London’s O2 Arena.
He said the management of the arena turned off the lights after sending the YBNL signee off the stage.
The content creator made this revelation during a chat on the Spill With Phyna podcast while speaking about the unfair treatment meted out to Nigerian creatives by Western music executives and show promoters.
He frowns at the fact that his colleagues still go back to the foreign music executives despite being treated ‘anyhow’.
In his words; “The management of 02 Arena turned off the lights during Asake’s performance at the venue last year. Westerners treat us anyhow, and we still go back to them. They chased Asake off the stage. They put off the lights. I’m not lying.”
Phyna suggested that Nigerian artists should unite and organize concerts for fans in the country but he dismissed her suggestion, saying the country lacks the facilities to host events of such magnitude.
