The All Progressives Congress (APC) has organized a Pro-Tinubu rally against the opposition parties’ protest in the United States.
The rally was fixed the same day the anti-Tinubu agitators fixed theirs.
It was gathered that the United States chapter of the APC has secured a permit to hold a rally in support of Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-elect.
In a statement on Saturday by the APC National Youth Leader in the United States, Oyakhilome Bello said the protest is to counter the planned protest of some individuals who were against the emergency of Tinubu as the President-elect.
Bello said the protest will be held on April 3, at Lafayette Park in South West Quadrant, Washington DC, the same day scheduled for the anti-Tinubu protest.
The APC youth leader maintains that the chapter will galvanize and work hard to defend the mandate of Tinubu even from Diaspora.
“We will defend the voice of the majority of Nigerian electorate because we have come too far to let some few selected people destroy what we have built over decades,” Bello said in the statement.
Recall, on Thursday, March 30, members of opposition political parties staged a rally at the same venue.
Apart from US protests, there have been protests in Nigeria too with protesters for two weeks demonstrating in several places such as the Independent National Electoral Commission office.
They have also visited US and UK Embassies, United Nations, and ECOWAS among others over the alleged manipulation of the 2023 presidential election.
The groups had called for the sacking and prosecution of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. The groups of protesters had also called for the invocation of the Interim National Government and compensation of all victims of electoral violence in the country.
