A teenager identified as Iwaku Olatunji has been remanded by the Senior Magistrate Court in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Olatunji was remanded on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, for allegedly withdrawing four million nairas from a BTC wallet.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adesina, he told the court that the 19-year-old defendant committed the crime sometime in October at 1:30 AM at Parakin Estate, IIe-Ife.
He said the defendant broke into the apartment of one Mr. Kingsley Emmanuel with the purpose to perpetrate a crime.
The prosecutor while explaining, he said the defendant stole an iPhone XR valued at N220,000 and fraudulently withdrew four million Naira (the equivalent of $5,000) from the BTC account belonging to Emmanuel.
The prosecutor said that the offenses contravened Sections 410 and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, still, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
Magistrate Olusola Aluko rejected an oral request for the bail of the defendant.
The magistrate ordered defense counsel, Mr. Reuben Abeginigo, to have a written petition.
He also ordered the remand of the defendant pending the outcome of the bail application.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Jan 25, for a hearing.
