Ghanaian dancehall king, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been released on bail after he had spent about seven days in prison.
He was granted a self recognizance bail after his lawyer pleaded for it at the Accra circuit court on Tuesday, before the case was adjourned to November 9, 2021.
Granting him bail, he was
s asked together with his accomplices to pay the sum of Ghc 100,000 each.
It was gathered that the 37-year-old musician had been in police custody since October 19 when he was arrested for “falsely” claiming he was attacked by gunmen.
The dance hall king was charged with publication of fake news at the Accra circuit court last week Thursday which he pleaded not guilty. However, the presiding judge subsequently adjourned the case until this next hearing that was set for October 26.
Meanwhile, before his arrest, the dancehall singer had called for the arrest of Kwesi Appiah, the Ghanaian pastor who he claimed prophesied the gunshot attack on him.
Later, the pastor was arrested and charged for spreading information that could cause fear and panic.
Although, he was later released on Ghc100,000 bail with three sureties.
Thereafter on Monday, a video surfaced showing Shatta Wale entering the Ankaful maximum security prison in Ghana.
It was gathered that the Inmates at the correctional facility were seen jubilating in the open as the embattled Shatta Wale made his way into the prison yard.
