No going back on the ban for open grazing – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has made his stand to back on the decision of the Southern Governors ban on open grazing saying “No going back.”

Governor Wike made this affirmation on Saturday while speaking at a civic center reception organized by the Ogoni Ethnic Nationality in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of the State.

According to Wike, the decision has already been cast on the stone as there is no reason to go back.

Wike while addressing the audience said, “Look, I have been in government, I am in opposition, nobody can cow me, they know, their government cannot cow me. I will say what I will say and I will do what is right for my people. Nobody will do me anything. I will die the day God says it is my day. Nobody can take my life when it is not time for me to die. So, let nobody be afraid.

Also, he said, “Let me use this opportunity to say, all those who are saying why should Southern Governors ban grazing – I have taken further steps to fulfill what the Southern Governors said in Asaba. If anybody wants to die, go and die and hang yourself on an electric pole.

Wike also mentioned that they are not second class citizens of the country and they also own the country to partake in what is happening in the country stating that enough is enough because they have taken their position and they are not going to go back, He added.

While still speaking, Wike also calls on the Federal Government to move its office to Bori on its implementation of the Ogoni environmental cleanup exercise.

“You have said you are coming to clean Ogoniland, move your office from Port Harcourt, and come to Bori.”

He said, “You cannot talk about cleaning up a place and you keep your office in another area, bring your office from Port Harcourt and come and stay in Bori so that you can hear and see the feelings of the people. It is very important.”
